Strength Programming at Round 1

How We Program Strength at Round 1 (And Why)

April 04, 20263 min read

If you’ve been training with us over the past few months, you’ve probably felt it…

Some weeks feel heavy.
Some feel fast.
Some feel like everything is clicking…
…and others feel like you’re just grinding through.

That’s not random.

That’s the plan.

We Don’t Program Workouts — We Program Progress

A lot of people think good training is about variety.

New exercises.
New sessions.
Something different every week.

It feels productive… but it usually isn’t.

Because progress doesn’t come from doing something different.
It comes from doing something slightly better — over and over again.

That’s why we build our training in blocks.

Not random sessions.
Not “see how we feel on the day.”

Blocks with a clear purpose — and a clear progression.

Building One Phase Into the Next

Take the Drop Set block we just finished.

Higher reps.
Controlled tempo.
A bit of burn.

That wasn’t about testing strength — it was about building it.

  • Building muscle

  • Building tolerance to volume

  • Locking in movement patterns

Then we shift.

Now we’re into a French Contrast block.

Heavier lifts.
Explosive work.
Strength paired with speed.

Different feel — same goal.

Because once your body adapts to one style of training…
we give it a new reason to improve.

Progress Isn’t Session to Session — It’s Block to Block

Inside each block, there’s another layer.

Week to week progression.

You’re not starting from scratch each session — you’re building.

  • A little more weight

  • A little more control

  • A little more intent

And when that starts to add up…

That’s where strength actually changes.

Not from one big effort — but from stacking weeks together.

Why We Deload (Even When You Feel Good)

Then, just as things are building…

We pull back.

That’s the deload.

This is the part most people skip when they train on their own.

Because it feels like you’re going backwards.

Lighter loads.
Less volume.
A bit less intensity.

But this is where your body actually absorbs the work.

Fatigue drops.
Strength consolidates.
You come back better.

This Is Where Most People Get It Wrong

Left to their own devices, most people either:

  • Do too much, too often…
    or

  • Bounce between programs without any real direction

Both feel like effort.

Neither leads to consistent progress.

Because what’s missing isn’t motivation…

It’s structure.

This Is Why It Works for Busy People

Most people don’t struggle because they’re lazy.

They struggle because they’re making decisions all day.

Work.
Family.
Life.

By the time it comes to training, the last thing they want is to:

  • Figure out what to do

  • Plan their week

  • Wonder if it’s working

That’s where people fall off.

Not because they don’t care…
but because it becomes one more thing to think about.

At Round 1, That Part Is Done for You

You don’t need to plan your training.

You don’t need to design your program.

You don’t need to second guess if you’re doing the right thing.

You just need to:

Show up.
Lace up.
And follow the session.

Because the Plan Is Already There

The strength blocks.
The progressions.
The deloads.
The shifts in training style.

It’s all mapped out.

So instead of jumping between programs…
or wondering what you “should” be doing…

You can focus on actually training.

And That’s What We’re Really Training For

Not just strength.

Not just fitness.

But the ability to show up consistently…
and keep moving forward without overthinking it.

Because that’s what gets results.

Simple Rule for This Block

If you want to get the most out of the next few weeks:

Stay consistent.
Trust the process.
Don’t chase extra.

Let the program do its job.

Last word (we're here to HELP!)

If you’re not sure how your week should look — or you feel like you’re bouncing between sessions without a clear structure — come and have a chat.

We’ll map it out for you.

Because once the plan is clear…

Everything else gets easier.
