HYROX is a global fitness race that’s changing the game for functional fitness enthusiasts. It’s a test of endurance, strength, and grit — and it’s growing fast, with over 550,000 participants and 350,000 spectators expected in 2025 and more than 80 races happening in cities across the world.
Every event follows the same format: 8x functional workout stations, 8x 1K runs. One course. One standard. One goal: cross the finish line knowing you gave it everything.
HYROX is built for everyday athletes — people who train with intention and want a measurable challenge that’s tough, rewarding, and incredibly fun to prepare for.
HYROX Race Format
HYROX is a hybrid fitness competition that blends endurance running with functional movements in a fixed, standardized format. That means you can train anywhere and know exactly what to expect on race day — no surprises, no guesswork.
Every race is structured the same, with 16 stages alternating between runs and workout stations:
✅ 1km Run
✅ 1000m SkiErg
✅ 1km Run
✅ 50m Sled Push
✅ 1km Run
✅ 50m Sled Pull
✅ 1km Run
✅ 80m Burpee Broad Jumps
✅ 1km Run
✅ 1000m Row
✅ 1km Run
✅ 200m Farmers Carry
✅ 1km Run
✅ 100m Sandbag Lunges
✅ 1km Run
✅ 100 Wall Balls
Why HYROX is Growing So Fast
HYROX has carved out a sweet spot between structured competition and accessible, real-world fitness. It’s designed to be inclusive, with enough challenge to make it exciting — and enough structure to make it achievable for anyone willing to put in the work.
Unlike some fitness competitions where you need to master advanced skills like Olympic lifting or complex gymnastics, HYROX focuses on functional movements you already know — sleds, lunges, carries, rows, wall balls. It’s all stuff you’d find in a solid functional fitness gym, like ours at Round 1.
Plus, unlike a marathon (or even a half), where training might take 3-4 hours every Sunday, HYROX training is realistic for busy people. Each run is just 1km — between 4 and 6.5 minutes for most — repeated 8 times. You can train for that. And you can race solo, with a partner, or as a relay team, splitting the work.
HYROX divisions include:
🔹 Open — standard weights and layout
🔹 Pro — heavier weights for competitive athletes
🔹 Doubles — train and race with a partner
🔹 Relay — teams of four splitting the work
Why We’re All In: Why Round 1 is a HYROX Affiliate
We fell in love with HYROX because it’s functional training at its best — inclusive, accessible, and achievable for everyone. You don’t need to chase a 3x bodyweight deadlift or stress about surprise workout programming like you might in other competitions. You know what’s coming — so you can train for it.
Sure, some stations like the Sled Push are tough — but no tougher than the sleds we already push and pull at Round 1 every week. And with options like partner or relay racing, it’s more achievable than people think.
We wanted to be an affiliate because we believe in giving our members a clear goal to train for — a challenge that’s serious but accessible, and that builds real fitness while making training fun.
