Every year people make resolutions and not surprisingly the top few are always health-related, whether it’s eating healthier, exercising more, or losing weight. A recent study found that 23% quit in the first week, only 36% make it past the first month, and 9% successfully keep their New Year’s resolutions. We are now nearly a quarter of the way through the year – so how are all your new years goals going.
Today’s tip will hopefully help you with setting your goals NOT just for the New Year but all year round.
HOW TO START THE NEW YEAR
The new year is always an opportunity for some intentional reflection. What did you set out to do in the past year? Where did you make progress? Where didn’t you see progress? If you’re not quite where you want it to be, ask yourself some simple questions that will invite honest reviews.
Are you eating enough?
Are you hydrated?
Are you getting enough sleep?
Are you managing your stress?
If you answered ‘no’ to any of the above, then addressing that issue might be a good place to start.
“A goal without a plan is just a dream.”
Get clear on your intentions and figure out exactly how you’re going to make it happen. Taking small actionable steps every day will eventually add up and before you know it, you’ll be kicking goals!
Sometimes all it takes is getting started (if you’ve ever left a 15-page assignment until the night before then you know what I mean). Focus on a small win every day. This could be trying something new at the gym, prepping your meals for the week, or reading that book you started last year.
Set some goals up and see how you go – it’s not too late!
