(Updated for 2025)
Final quarter. Scores are tied. Legs are heavy. The ball spills loose and it’s a 10-metre sprint to glory. The athlete who gets there first?
That’s NOT LUCK! That’s PREPARATION.
At Round 1 Fitness, we run a dedicated Developing Athlete Program — a structured, supportive strength and conditioning program built specifically for teenage athletes who want to perform better and reduce their injury risk.
***NOTE***
– We are offering a School Holiday Trial of our Developing Athlete Sessions for just $60. The sessions run each day – Mon-Thurs – at 4pm in the strength gym at Round 1 Fitness in Cockburn Central! Contact us – info@round1fitness.com.au – if you are interested in taking part.
So… Why Strength & Conditioning?
We love sport. Our gym is full of people who grew up on footy fields, netball courts, athletics tracks and cricket ovals. But playing sport alone is not the same as training your body to be strong, resilient, and explosive.
Without a good foundation of strength, teenage athletes often:
-
Break down with overuse injuries
-
Struggle with confidence in contact
-
Fatigue earlier in games
-
Miss out on developing speed and power that separates good from great
We see it all the time — talented kids who train hard, but never quite hit their potential because they’ve never learned to lift well, move properly, and build strength that lasts.
What the Developing Athlete Program Looks Like
-
Two coached sessions per week (Sessions run each day from Mon-Thurs @4pm)
-
$40/week – 3-month minimum.
-
Age-appropriate programming built around movement quality, basic barbell/dumbbell skills, sprint work, and explosive drills
-
SMALL groups. LOTS of coaching and personal feedback.
-
Emphasis on fun, safety, and long-term development — not just short-term gains
Whether your teenager is a footballer, netballer, basketballer, sprinter, swimmer, or just wants to feel better in their own skin — this program is for them.
It’s not about being the best right now — it’s about building habits, confidence, and movement skills that serve them for life.
Why Now?
Because finals are coming.
Because summer sport is around the corner.
Because the window for development is open right now.
What Parents Are Saying
“My daughter was nervous to go at first, but now she’s absolutely loving it. It’s helped her confidence so much — and she’s moving better on court too.”
“We’ve seen a huge improvement in posture, power, and general attitude. It’s been one of the best decisions we’ve made.”
