Spoiler alert: Either way, you’re doing something great.
First things first: showing up is still the win.
Let’s get this out of the way: if you’re coming into the gym—even just once or twice a week—you’re doing something powerful. You’re stepping away from your screen. You’re saying no to the couch. You’re choosing movement over inertia.
That’s not nothing. That’s everything.
So before we dive into whether you’re training or just exercising, let’s park the judgement. You’re in the building. You’re moving. You’re winning already.
But if you want more… set a small focus.
This next part isn’t a lecture. It’s a tip.
Sometimes, when you’re in the swing of regular sessions, things can start to blur a little. One workout rolls into the next. You finish class and think, “That was good,” but you’re not really sure what changed from last week.
That’s where setting a tiny goal can work wonders.
Not a 12-week transformation plan. Not a full training program spreadsheet. Just one simple focus to carry in your head for the next 2–4 weeks.
Something like:
-
“Go hard on every bag round—start to finish.”
-
“No skipping the sled station. Not even once.”
-
“Hit the floor with every push-up.”
-
“Stick to the run station every time it comes up.”
You don’t need to tell anyone. Just write it on a sticky note. Or better yet—set a phone reminder that pops up right before you leave for the gym. A tiny voice saying, “Own the bag rounds today.”
It’s not about pressure. It’s about presence.
Training for something? Then it’s time to dial it in.
Now, if you are working toward something—like HYROX—then yeah, that’s when the difference between “training” and “just working out” starts to matter a bit more.
In that context, we’re not just here to sweat—we’re here to build.
-
You’re improving your sled push time.
-
You’re getting your wall balls tighter.
-
You’re working on running with control, not just surviving it.
And the more consistent you are, the more you start to see that progress. It’s addictive in the best way.
HYROX is coming. Are you training for it?
At Round 1, we’ve got HYROX workshops, HYROX-specific sessions, and more people than ever looking to take on the challenge. But even if you’re not racing, you can train like you are.
That just means having purpose. Hitting your stations with a little more intention. Not just moving—but improving.
So whether your goal is to hit a time, finish a race, or just get through a whole session without skipping anything (yes, that includes wall sits), now’s the time to pick your focus.
We’ll keep the music loud and the energy high. You bring the goal—big or small.
