No real ‘BLOG’ today but I did want to say a quick ‘Hello & Thankyou’.
It’s been a really (really) big and stressful year for the gym – we’ve lived through a couple of lockdowns, had our most successful ever challenge (Summer Slam), work through some more renovations/changes, had some new staff arrive (and a couple depart!) and ran a touch more than 5100 classes (which is completely bonkers when you think about it!). And that stuff is barely scratching the surface of everything that has gone on.
All of that ‘businessy’ stuff aside, things that I will remember from the year include my team beating cheated from winning the bike challenge by the 4pm crew AND my team winning the rowing challenge because the 4pm team weren’t allowed to cheat (of course, I’m joking about all of that…except the cheating!!). I guess what I’m saying is what I remember most from the year is all those times I got to train with my friends and the fun we had together. I will remember the times I watched (coached even!) when people achieve their new PB’s in the strength gym, when I got to watch things ‘CLICK’ with our new starters when they ‘finally’ understood the difference between a jab and a cross (not to mention the difference between a hook and an uppercut) in the boxing sessions and you could just tell they ‘KNEW’ things were starting to get BETTER. I will remember those times when our boxing regulars decided – all by themselves – that what today’s class needed was a sled relay – so they just started one and the rest of the class simply jumped aboard! I’ll remember all of the conversations about ‘stuff’, I’ll remember watching peoples kids growing up before my eyes and (some could say most importantly) I’ll remember the name of every single person who gave me a hard time when the Bulldogs lost the Grand Final! 🙂
I guess what I’m saying is when it’s all done I’ll remember all of the people…and I’ll be forever grateful for the day I quit my day job back in 2010 to open the gym and somehow found myself in the middle of an amazing community!
And when I say all of this, you have to remember that at the gym we are not giving away chocolates! People (that’s you) are coming in early, coming in late, coming in-between and working your butt off when you get there. I know the sessions are hard at the gym – and this makes me appreciate even more that so many people choose to spend their time training with us at Round 1.
So – Thanks for everything – have an amazing Christmas and I’ll see everyone after the (short break!).
See you all in the gym,
Here’s a quick reminder of our opening hours over the next week or so. If you want the full details, please check via the class booking site:
Round1fitness.ezfacility.com (or check our new app: “Member Me +”!).
Remember, our Public Holiday classes can get quite busy so please BOOK EARLY and – cancel your sessions a minimum of 24-hours in advance…there is no ‘RULE’ around this – it is just about being courteous to other members by making sure they have the opportunity jump into your spot…it’s pretty hard to book a session if the spot only opens up 20 minutes before the session starts!
