    New Equipment, January Challenge Update

Hi and welcome to another week.

Some terrific sessions last week and for those people who survived the cardio challenge presented by the 1-minute rounds last Tuesday, a big ‘well done’.  I would say though that the hardest class last week was again the ‘Body Work’ session and would really encourage everyone – particularly anyone not doing a separate weights program – to try and complete at least one ‘Body Work’ class each week.  It really does challenge you in ways that ‘Boxing for Fitness’ doesn’t and will help accelerate your training progress.

    Gym Update #1

OK.  After a delay of a little more than a week, there is now a little mini-stereo upstairs in the weights area…this is just sitting on the ground at the moment but will be going up on a shelf in the next couple of weeks.  The delay here is that I want to make sure that wherever it ends up going does not impact on the plasma screen being installed up there…

Along with the plasma to go upstairs, there will be a couple installed in the main gym area together with another couple of fans…this will enable me to move the treadmills back towards where the round timer is located and give those people putting in the miles something to look at whilst they are running/riding/cross-training/rowing.

    Gym Update #2

In addition to the tv’s, there has been some more equipment ordered which should also arrive in the next couple of weeks – some ‘Power Ropes’ and ‘Power Rings’.  These will add even more variety to our circuits and allow us to challenge each of you even more.

For a look at the Power Ropes, try this video:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZqZ7qhcNDE

Have a look here for the Power Rings:

    January Challenge Update

There are a heap of names up on the board now (though it would be nice to see a few more girls have a go) and the collective response seems to have been “That was harder than I thought it would be!”.  The challenge is really hard and as anyone who has had a try will attest, completing it can only help you in trying to achieve your fitness and weight-loss targets.

Anyway, there is still more than a week to go so for anyone who has been thinking about either giving it a try or having one last attempt at improving their time, don’t make excuses – just get into it!

    Kids Club Reminder

Remember, the Kids Club is back this week and will operate as follows:

    –         Members kids train for FREE.

    –         All others will be required to purchase a Kids Club Pass – this will entitle you to 10 Sessions and will cost $50.

    Link of the week

I was flicking around the ESPN site during the week (tracking the updates on the NFL and especially the Steelers – hopefully Super Bowl bound again) when I came across this amusing article about the people you run into at the gym.  Now, this isn’t about people at Round One – though Sean, who checks this blog for his name every week, is certainly a ‘Mirror Maid’ type – but I am sure you will relate to a few character types from gyms past!

Anyway, that is it from me for another week.

    See you in the gym!

    Michael.
