If you used to train with us at Round 1 Fitness – but stopped – I would like to invite you to come back.
I’m like really old now – with 3x kids and a job that sucks up sixty hours every week. No-one knows more than I do how difficult it is to find time. And how hard it is to remain motivated. There are times when all I want to do (all I DO!!!) is lay on the couch and just let the world pass by – and I OWN a gym. I am supposed to be setting an example.
You know something else? I know our sessions are hard – and there are those times when you listen to the coach telling you about the 2000m bike effort followed by the 1000m ski effort and it just makes you groan on the inside. But those are the times when you need to remind yourself that you are in the gym to get BETTER, to feel BETTER, to be BETTER…for the rest of your life. The training you are doing is really medicine of a sort – and the reason there was a song all about how ‘a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down’ is because not all medicine tastes good at the time…but it works! Remember, the sessions might be hard – but they are over in 45 minutes…and the good vibes you get from a HARD session DONE WELL is a great reward!
Think back. WHY did you start on your journey at the gym in the first place? To lose a couple of kilos? To get a bit stronger? So you could run around with the kids when they are old enough to play footy? Did you achieve all of those things? So why did you stop again?
If it was us – tell me all about it. Be direct and honest. Maybe you were getting confused by the whiteboards and needed more of an explanation? Maybe you were finding everything a bit tough and needed more scaling? Maybe you were intimidated because everyone else seemed to be chatting to someone and you felt you didn’t know anyone? Whatever it is – we want to hear about it, we want to fix it and we want to make it work for YOU.
The gym is BETTER now. Not only are we twice the size – but more importantly than that, we have this awesome process called a ‘HEALTH CHECK’. It is 30-minutes with a trainer before a class – 30 minutes where you sit down, map out your goals…and the things that get in the way of them. We look at a typical eating day – a good day and a bad day – and offer you some simple ways to make things ‘better’. AND we throw in a 10-day eating plan for good measure. And we create a weekly training ‘map’ – working out the times you can get to the gym given YOUR schedule. The times you can do some recovery work given YOUR schedule. It really does set you up for success. If that all sounds like stuff you could do by yourself…well maybe – but the process of doing a body scan and reviewing it with a trainer in light of what you *COULD* be doing better is really, really powerful.

The Health Check is an awesome process but if you don’t have time/don’t want to commit to that, just call the gym or send me an email and let me know what it is EXACTLY that you need help with…what obstacles you need us to help clear out of your way. Because I know one thing for certain – even if you went to the gym for 6-12 months without achieving the goals you set for yourself when you started, giving up and stopping is not going to help you get back on track.
