Hi Team,
And a special HI to the Challenge team. We have just on ONE WEEK to go and I hope you are having a successful challenge.
For me, I have managed to fight my way through without a cheat day to this point – which is good and makes me happy! It might also have something to do with having zero social life but let’s leave that debate for another day and focus on the positive – so far, zero cheat days for me!
Now, we are a “Hello Fresh” family and I have to say I love it. I love the recipe cards, I love the food, I love the fact that it gets EVERYONE in the family cooking (Dempsey usually cooks a couple of meals each week at age 13)…I actually cannot think of a single thing that I don’t love.
The other night, our “Hello Fresh” order was some kind of Mexican (my fave) tostada type things that were all done up in tortillas and I have to say looked 100% amazing. Outside of the challenge, I would 100% be eating the tortillas…100%. And I would be doing the opposite of complaining…I would be loving it. And if there was an extra one (or, let’s face it, an extra two!) left over, well…I would be eating that as well.
The challenge inspires some different behaviour though and I have been thinking quite a bit about how much small changes must add up over 12-months? Every tortilla is worth just on 200cals…and the sweet potato I replaced it with is around 50% of that…I mean, as a one off, really, who cares? But every week over 12-months? Twice a week over 12-months? It has simply GOT to count for something, right? Maybe sometimes little changes do mean a lot?
I guess that is why I am so in love with the updated food quantity chart in the challenge packs this year – it makes it so simple to know exactly where you are over/under in your allocations AND make the necessary adjustments…and the whole story is why I am so in love with these challenges – it just forces me to scrutinise my decisions ‘just a little bit more’ and make sure things are nice and tidy around the edges…which can only be ‘GOOD’ for me in the long run.
Good luck with the weekend…and the FINAL WEEK!
See you in the gym,
Michael.
