There is no REALITY stopping you – only Energy

Hi and welcome to another week,

Well, the weather (and the roads) turned a bit nasty this week…all of which meant some smaller classes and a few less places to hide in traditional peak time sessions.  Whilst the additional ‘attention’ certainly didn’t hurt those who were in the gym, remember that the key to success in your training is to remain consistent and diligent…and – as many of us find out at various times in our lives – taking a break of a week sometimes becomes a few weeks which in turn becomes a few months at which point you really ARE starting again.  The training and effort you put in NOW really will be worth its weight when beach season rolls around (and that happens more quickly than you think)!

Remember, when you get knocked off your training plan – and it does happen – make sure you have a ‘Plan B’ ready to go.  Stuck on the freeway and miss the 5pm?  Go home, organise dinner then head back to the gym for 8pm – or make up for it the next day.  Don’t allow the circumstances of one event to throw all of your plans in the bin.  Keep on course and remember that regardless of the circumstances there is no reality that is standing in the way of you achieving your targets – all that is in the way is your own levels of energy (can you really be bothered coming back at 8pm???) and effort.

I have been thinking about this a lot throughout the past week – that when it comes to getting it done, there really is no REALITY holding us back.  It all comes down to energy, effort and desire.  Now, I have been trying to apply this in terms of Round 1 (the business) vs Round 1 as a training mechanism, but in no other part of your life than your health and fitness is the statement more true.  There is no reality that is stopping you following a healthy diet plan – just your willingness to expend the energy with regards planning and preparing your meals.  There is no reality that is in your way when it comes to completing your 3-4 (4-5?  5-6??) sessions per week…it is just having the energy to make time and – when you are there – bust your butt!

There is no REALITY stopping you – only Energy.  My new favourite saying.

Gym Update #1 – Sled, Torsonator, Barbell Jacks etc

Great to have all of the new gear in place and has been so exciting to see everyone having a go at the sled and torsonator in particular.  And whilst the barbell jacks might not be the most exciting things ever added to the gym, I am sure everyone doing some lifting will have appreciated how much easier they have made changing weights.

Just another reminder about the new GHD as well – my abs and glutes are still feeling some serious pain from spending some time on the GHD last Monday…nearly a week ago.  It is certainly going to be a great addition to the gym and will really help us all build some more core strength.

Gym Update #2 – Kids Class / New Boxing classes

It is with a fair bit of regret that I am announcing that at the conclusion of the current school term, the Kids Class (4pm Monday and Wednesday) will be cancelled in favour of an additional ‘Boxing for Fitness’ class.

The Kids Class is a free session for our members kids to bring their 8-12 yo’s along to have a go at the sessions – hopefully gaining a little bit of fitness and having some fun…but the average attendance over the last 8 weeks has been 2.1 kids per session – it simply is not proving popular enough to retain the session.

Apologies to everyone impacted by this decision…I guess the positive is that their will now be a 4pm Boxing for Fitness class 3 days per week so for those of you who finish work early – you have another couple of chances each week to Get it Done.

Gym Update #3 – More new stuff

A few things are happening – a new order of t-shirts and singlets (Tanks/Body Work) are ready to be picked up and will be available in the gym this week.  In addition, the hoodies and skipping ropes have arrived in Perth customs (as of 08:36 Sunday morning) and I am looking forward to having them available this week as well.

Those people with particularly keen eyes would have also noticed that the ab wheels are back in stock – as well as a few new items…foam rollers for rehab and some kettlebells for those who .  If you need any of this gear, please come and see us and I am sure we can help you out.

    Footy Tipping and Dream Team

Well, footy tipping this week is nothing more than a joke – upset after upset – and right at the moment I have the grand total of ‘1’ correct tip…down on the site average of ‘2’.  Not good.

With Dreamteam, the number of byes this week looks to be really influencing results…whilst I look to be comfortably cruising to victory at the moment it looks to me like my chances next week are going to be somewhere between ‘ZERO’ and ‘NONE’.
