Hi and welcome to another week,
Some great classes last week – hard to tell whether it was the week of the bob-sled, week of the ab-wheel or week of the push-up…but the classes were certainly challenging. I have to say though, the session I enjoyed most of all was Jason’s Saturday class – the whole ’20/25/30 punches every 10 seconds’ on every bag during the last ‘lap’ was really challenging if you had a real crack at it and hit your targets – and I was completely done and the end of that class.
I was just kind of standing there – exhausted – at the end of that class when it really did strike me how much your training outcomes are a result of your attitude towards the session. How open were you to just working hard? Just getting it done? Or were you constantly thinking about whether or not there might be an ‘easier way’ to get through the assigned exercise?
It was pretty easy during the whole ‘20/25/30 punches every 10 seconds’ thing that Jason set for us just to do ’20 punches’ every time. No-one would ever know – and 20 is nearly 25. And 20 is NEARLY 30. And really – what does it matter anyway? Well – it matters to me that I do things right. And I hope it matters to you as well.
Yep – going to the gym is supposed to be fun – and the ‘Boxing for Fitness’ classes at Round 1 are certainly that. But if you want to achieve something more than enjoyment, then you really need to up your work-rate right throughout the sessions. You can do it. You will survive. And you will be amazed at the results that you get out of it.
One week left – how are you tracking?
For me, being sick and out of action today was not a good result – it now looks like I am going to go right down to the wire – 8pm class on Monday, October 31st – to finish my 25th class. I might also need to wind back a few of the extras in this last week in order to finish it off…
I know a couple of people out there are approaching the 40 sessions threshold already…so much for 25 being a ‘challenge’!!
As per the news last week, pricing changes will be implemented as of November 1st:
Fortnightly and monthly direct debit options remain available and these prices are available on request.
You can see that our 12-month membership has reduced in cost by the ‘least’ – and yes, I am trying to encourage everyone to move from short-term commitments to longer term ones. 12-month memberships really are great value – they already include a Round 1 Pack and when the new pricing structure takes effect they will also include a free, 30-minute PT session! – as well as providing by far the lowest cost per session of all our options – less than $4.20 per class (assuming 3-sessions per week).
As part of the new membership pricing structure, we will be introducing a formal referral policy. It will work like this:
As implied by the ‘existing membership’ part of this policy, you must be a member to take advantage of this policy and the person you are referring must be a NEW member…those are the only caveats.
As hinted at last week, there are going to be some timetable changes commencing on November 1st – which basically means the weekend AFTER this one. There are two main highlights:
Like the pricing changes, these will all take effect as at November 1st…but as a bit of a test to see if anyone actually reads this thing, I will be running a ‘special’ class at 08:15am this FRIDAY (CHOGM Public Holiday). So, if you want to ‘Get it Done’ a bit earlier this week, 08:15am on Friday is the time.
A few questions during the week about our new protein – it should be in this week but if you want to do some background reading on the products have a look at this link here: http://www.wheyprotein.com.au.
WA company, 100% pure isolate (no colours, no flavours etc)…what is not to like?
More about the key-tags. I have been going back and forth with the software support team on this issue – basically, I cannot get the bar-code scanner to actually ‘SCAN’ the bar-codes – and hope to have a resolution soon.
Just a quick reminder than the CHOGM conference – and associated public holiday – is on Friday October 28th. As mentioned earlier in the blog, we will be ‘trying out’ the new Sunday/Public holiday hours this Friday and the gym will therefore be opening from 8am è 1pm – with classes at 8:15, 9:15, 10:15am and 11:15am.
There is a LOT of stuff in the lost property pile at the moment – at the end of this month it will be emptied out and donated to charity. If you even THINK you might be missing something, please have a look through the box before the end of the month…The end of the month is THIS WEEK! So if you are missing something, have a look for it SOON.
I have two more ‘ready to go’ which will go up in the next couple of weeks. If you are interested in documenting your own training journey – maybe a story about the impact of the October Challenge? – then let me know and I can send through the template.
I promise to get back on top of the Facebook stuff this week – this week was another quiet-ish week in terms of content though there were some entertaining threads about:
The Facebook group really is a great daily reminder about your training and WILL help keep you on track. So have a look at the group (HERE) and get involved in the conversations.
My favourite movie ‘monologue’ used as a backdrop to training footage…I might very well watch this clip every day for the rest of my life!
Anyway, that is it from me for another week.
See you in the gym!
Michael.
