Merry Christmas, Christmas Hours, Facebook Changes, Bar Wings

Hi and welcome to another week,

Thanks to everyone who came to the gym last week.  I know there are a lot of people doing the challenge, but when I compare session attendance/check-ins from 2013 to 2014 we are up slightly more than 30% overall.  That is amazing – particularly when you consider the same comparison between November 2013 and November 2014 showed a change of just 5.7%.  I am not sure what this means to you – but to me it means that we are seeing some amazing dedication to their training from our members at the moment.  As an example, we had 35 people complete the Boxing session at 6pm last Friday night – the last Friday night before Christmas.  Last year we had just 9 people at the same class.  You guys should all be really proud of yourselves (and I am sure you are getting some great results to go along with your efforts!).

We have been having some fun as well.  Have a look at this photo from todays ‘No Rules’ session at 10:15am – the idea to dress up did not come from me or the trainers…it came from the members (as with most good ideas at Round 1).  The class was just as challenging as ever, but somehow wearing a Santa hat seemed to make the pain a little more tolerable for most people.

Anyway, apart from offering my congratulations to everyone for their efforts this month, I don’t really want to spend any time lecturing you about what to do or not do this Christmas.  I just hope that everyone gets to spend a bit of time relaxing and enjoying the company of their friends and families.  I would love it (of course) if you could squeeze in the time to come and bang out a session in the gym, but totally understand that everyone has different (and more important!) priorities at this time of year.

Gym Update #1 – Christmas Hours

Our Christmas/New Year hours are pretty simple:

Wednesday 24th:  Close at 2pm.  All classes ‘as normal’ up until then.

Thursday 25th:  Closed.

Friday 26th:  Closed.  I know we opened last year for three classes but this year I will be installing the new artificial turf.

Saturday 27th:  Open as normal (and open until normal on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday).

Wednesday 31st:  Close at 5pm.  All classes ‘as normal’ up until then.

Thursday 1st:  Closed.

Friday 2nd:  Open as normal!

Gym Update #2 – Round 1 Facebook

We have run into a bit of trouble with our Facebook group lately – essentially, we are running our facebook site from a group, not a ‘PAGE’ and now we have hit 1000 members it is getting very (very) unwieldy.  So, the group will be CLOSING on February 1st.

We have already started publishing all of our new content to our Facebook Page – which has always existed but never really been used.  It can be found HERE:  https://www.facebook.com/pages/Round-1-Fitness-Gym/153944284640284

In order to stay up to date with our ‘PAGE’ you need to first ‘LIKE’ the page, and then ‘FOLLOW’ the page.  We will continue to use Facebook as a ‘secondary’ information source (email will always be used for important changes/info) so if you want to stay up-to-date be sure to ‘Like’ and ‘Follow’ so that our updates appear on your news feed.

Gym Update #3 – December ’12 Days of Christmas’ Challenge is here!

The 12-days of Christmas Challenge is nearly done – we have actually had around ten people or so knock it off already (which is pretty darned impressive!).  Personally I still have ONE class to do – tomorrow! – but I still owe TWO reps of the challenge circuit…and, as I can only do the circuit ONCE per day that means I will be unable to finish until Tuesday.  No matter – I have until Wednesday so everything is good!

When you have finished, it is a matter of handing your sheet in and DOUBLE CHECKING your t-shirt order with us.  We only ordered the shirts / shirt sizes listed on the order sheet so it is important that we verify that the shirt you asked for is the one you will get…If you DIDN’T complete the order sheet, that is fine.  We will do a new order after Christmas to include everyone who missed out (or, there might be a person or two who ordered a shirt but who wont finish the challenge…all of which reminds me of why I got everyone to pay for their Challenge T-shirts 12-months or so back!!!)

Gym Update #4 – Gym Refurb

Anyone who has been in the gym over the past couple of days would have seen the two enormous rolls of artificial turf out the front of the gym.  Putting it on the floor is my job for Boxing Day…here’s hoping when we all return to the gym on SATURDAY we have a new, green floor!  And that maybe those sleds become just a little easier to push.

Gym Update #5– Join PERKVILLE.  Join NOW!!!

Perkville is awesome.  It is a rewards scheme that gives you ‘credit’ in the gym for every time you pay for your membership/every time you scan your membership card at the front counter.  You can then turn that ‘credit’ into TANKS classes, InBody Scans, Personal Training, Protein, new Boxing Gloves etc – whatever you want really!

Signing up really is simple – go to www.perkville.com , enter the same email address that you have registered at the gym and everything else is done for you.

Free stuff at the gym just for turning up?  Sounds alright to me!
