Merry Christmas 2012 (+ a little bit of other stuff!)

Hi and welcome to another week,

Last week had some great classes – I discovered that the sandbags are a great way to get your heart-rate sky-rocketing (and shoulders burning) and that if you do five (5) minutes of concurrent wall-balls with the 23kg deadball your legs end up quite sore.  And then when you wake up the next day, they are still sore.  And if you are old like me, the day after that they are still sore!  It has got to be good for us right?

I don’t want to say much in the blog this week apart from ‘Merry Christmas’.  I have been reading heaps of stuff in print/watching stories on tv which talk about moderation and staying fit and active over the festive season – and all of that is great.

Personally I think everyone has worked super hard all year and that if you get the chance to relax with your family and friends this week – with maybe a beer or three and an extra serve of potato salad – well, good on you.  Enjoy yourself, relax and try to enjoy the break without worrying too much about fitness, diet and whatever else.  The gym is open usual times on Thursday, Friday and all weekend…so we can all get together at R1 then and have a go at righting all our wrongs!

That’s it.  Merry Christmas from me, from Vanessa and from all of our wonderful staff.

See you in the gym,

Michael.

12-days of Christmas Challenge – Last Day Tomorrow (Monday)

How are you going with the challenge?  I still have one thing to finish and it is going to be a real struggle – there are just so many things to do at this time of year that I really do think this has been the challenge of all challenges…then again, if I had been a bit smarter and done a few less classes in order to do a few more challenges, it all would have been fine.

Anyway, well done to everyone who gave it their best shot and a huge congratulations to those out there who got it done!  Great effort and something you can really be proud of.

Gym Update #1 – New Gear, New Gear

Nice week of arrivals last week.  We now have heaps of red-handled skipping ropes for everyone’s jumping pleasure…please try to look after them.  When they hit your legs that is one thing – but when they get whacked into walls, poles, wooden benches etc that is another all together.

Another eight (8) abdominal wheels also arrived during the week – which means we can now have multiple Ab Wheel stations and really up the effort and focus in this area.

More?  Well, there will be some new purple handwraps arriving tomorrow…some green ones too – and even some black ones which have been out of stock for a while.

Gym Update #2 – Sandbags are GO…and they are HARD!

I hope everyone has appreciated the Sandbag mayhem over the past week or so…they will be a great addition to the gym and we have a LOT of new exercises for everyone to enjoy with them in the future.  I sincerely doubt we will be using them for 7 consecutive days again anytime soon though.
